Imitate
11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is
evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone
who does what is evil has not seen God. 3 John 1:11
The world is full of imitators. People who imitate singers or
athletes, or maybe they imitate their friends, and there are those
people who imitate supposedly famous individuals, or should I say
infamous people. Why do some individuals imitate others? Maybe it is
because they are not comfortable with who they are, or maybe they think
someone else is better than them and they need to be like that person. I
think the world could be a better place if people focused on who they
are and not who they think they should be. Maybe we should be imitators
of all things good and focus on living a life like the one who saved
us. Look for the good and you will see God and all he has for you.
Have a great weekend.

Fantastic Friday #350- Revive
Revive
14 Return to us, O God Almighty!
Look down from heaven and see!
Watch over this vine,
15 the root your right hand has planted,
the son you have raised up for yourself.
16 Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire;
at your rebuke your people perish.
17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand,
the son of man you have raised up for yourself.
18 Then we will not turn away from you;
revive us, and we will call on your name.
Have a great weekend.

19 Restore us, O Lord God Almighty;
make your face shine upon us,
that we may be saved. Psalm 80:17-19
I read an article this week about a woman who
has not and was not going to raise her kids with God. I have thought
how many people have said something like this in their lives, and how
many of those people have changed their minds about who God is and given
their lives to Him. I also think of the people who don't change their
minds, or haven't realized what He does for us daily who can't
experience the full love of God. I know that God is in control, because
I have developed a strong faith in Him and what He is capable of, and
that is "anything." Many people like this woman can't see it because
they are too focused on what they can do and what they control. I know
that I can't do anything on my own, but I know that I can do anything
with God on my side and a part of me. One thing this woman said was
that "God was not present." If there are people who don't think God is
present, then they haven't looked around lately, and they haven't seen
how God influences every path we take, as long as we allow Him in our
lives. This week some people need to be revived, or you need to be
revived, or you need to help God revive others. Let God be present in
your life and let him revive you. make your face shine upon us,
that we may be saved. Psalm 80:17-19
Have a great weekend.

Fantastic Friday #349- Discern
Discern
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11
Have you ever sat back and listened to someone, I mean really listened to them? People speak in many ways, and the way they speak is not always with their mouth. People communicate with body language and feelings as well, and there are many times when the primary way people say something is not with a phrase but with an emotion or movement. When we sit and listen to others, there tend to be things going on around us and many times those things can be distracting. If we let those distractions pull us away from listening, then we are not really able to discern what is going on with a person. The same thing can happen with God and listening to Him. If we let the distractions pull us away from Him and what He is saying to us, we are never going to hear. God tells us to love one another, and one of the best ways we can love each other is to listen to each other. Maybe God is telling us to listen to others when He is speaking to us, but we just aren't listening closely enough. Listen to Discern.
Have a great weekend.

Fantastic Friday #348- Bitter
Bitter
14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:14-15
There are many things that you can find that are bitter in this world, including fruit, drinks, and other foods that we might partake of once but try to avoid in the future. But people can be bitter as well, and a lot of that bitterness can come out during the holiday season when families get together. I am truly blessed by a wonderful extended family, so the bitterness is not prevalent but I know that is not the case for everyone. One reason I think the bitterness is not prevalent in our family is because we truly make efforts to live in peace with each other and having the Lord be the guide for our family really makes the largest impact. Also, we make a commitment not to let bitterness sneak into our family, and when we see it taking root, someone typically says something to prevent the bitter Bob or bitter Betty to drag everyone else into negativity as they squash the root before it can begin to grow. I don't know about you, but I would rather be grounded in the root of our Lord and allow His peace to extend through me as I grow into a follower of Christ that is not bitter but full of flavor.
Have a great weekend.
