Discern
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11
Have you ever sat back and listened to
someone, I mean really listened to them? People speak in many ways, and
the way they speak is not always with their mouth. People communicate
with body language and feelings as well, and there are many times when
the primary way people say something is not with a phrase but with an
emotion or movement. When we sit and listen to others, there tend to be
things going on around us and many times those things can be
distracting. If we let those distractions pull us away from listening,
then we are not really able to discern what is going on with a person.
The same thing can happen with God and listening to Him. If we let the
distractions pull us away from Him and what He is saying to us, we are
never going to hear. God tells us to love one another, and one of the
best ways we can love each other is to listen to each other. Maybe God
is telling us to listen to others when He is speaking to us, but we just
aren't listening closely enough. Listen to Discern.
Have a great weekend.
