Love
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He
answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” Luke 10:25-28
Do
you think much about this command from God? It is pretty easy to think
it as something simple, but in the end how simple is it? You can
probably say it is easy to love God because He gave us life, gave us
this creation, and gave us His Son. But look at the second part of the
command. If you can't love your neighbor, can you really love God fully
with all your heart, strength and mind? I used this is an example to
two young men this week, and I think it hit home more to me as I was
discussing this with them. It is very important to love others because I
think this only helps us love God more. We need to find where we fall
short in our love and remember how we should love.
Have a great weekend.
