Fantastic Friday #496 - Friend

Friend

10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
1 John 4:10-12

I was able to see a good friend this week that I haven't seen in a year. This is a friendship that has spanned more than 20 years, but the interesting thing about this meeting is this week is we picked up like it was only 20 years ago. He was always someone who was easy to get to know and share with, in fact we discussed our concerns about what happens when the preacher makes himself more important than God. We often get too caught up in the man on the stage than the man who died for us and this can lead to idolization. In fact, we all know that God has stated that there should be no other gods before Him, and when you idolize, worship and celebrate someone presenting God's Word, that can be a big problem. While I don't idolize my friend, he is an important part of my life and I know we can always be open with each other without judgement. Praise God for good friends.

Have a great weekend.
