Fantastic Friday #713 - Authority

Authority

6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. Colossians 2:6-10

Do you sometimes feel those in authority over you really have no rational reason to be in charge? God places those in authority over us for many reasons, and some we just need to understand that we might not know why. If we knew why, then things would be easy for us and there would be no challenge in life. Typically the ones placed in authority are older, more experienced, and have something to share to help us learn. It might not always be something good that is being taught, but it might be something that shows us how not to act or treat someone. To understand this fully, you really need to look closely at verses 9 and 10 where it shows two things, one that Christ came here in a bodily form, and two that He is over every power and authority. Which if you think carefully, if he put people in authority over us, it is because He is overseeing that person and their authority. So the next time you look at a person in authority over you, remember that Christ is right there.

Have a great weekend.
