18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. Romans 6:18-20
About two weeks ago I had surgery on my left thumb. The past two weeks has been challenging and has severely limited my ability to do certain things and do more common things with the speed and agility that I normally do. Something as simple as tying my shoes, I cannot do that myself and rely upon assistance. We are all limited in our ability to be perfect because no one is perfect, everyone has sin in their life. However, this scripture perfectly outlines how we are no longer slaves to the sin that can encompass our lives. God's forgiveness is for us if we are truly interested in abandoning our life of sin then freeing us from the limitations that sin places on us. Those limitations include being close to God and I don't want to be a person who is separated from God. So, when you think about the limitations that you have, God can release you from those limitations and free you from the sin that surrounds us every single day.
Have a great weekend.
Matt
