8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:2-9
There was this song that I came across the other day and this lyric kind of stuck with me, "So, I'm gonna slow on down, someway, somehow." We get going in our lives and it is rush here and rush there, and when do you have time to sit down and focus on God and what He wants to teach us. I will admit that I am guilty of not slowing down enough and definitely not spending enough time in His Word. Those times when I don't slow down, the anxiousness can creep in and control my thoughts of what I need to do next. The times that I slow down and give just a few minutes of thoughtful thanks to our Lord and Savior, my spirit calms and I can go about my business with a mind free of the mess. It does take intentional effort to slow down and not let our world consume us. This week during a meeting about midday I asked everyone to look at their phone screen time, and most people were between 30 and 90 minutes, but one person was 6 hours and 20 minutes. If we can slow down enough to spend this much time on our phone, we can slow down enough to give God time to work in us. Slow down, don't give in to the enemy and what they want, slow down and give thoughtful thanks.
Have a great weekend.
Matt
