Government
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Romans 13:1
In the United States, every four years the citizens of this nation put forth their vote for candidates in many government races. The feelings are strong on all sides of the electorate, and many times those personal feelings can put a wall between people who are normally friends because their beliefs may not totally align with each other. I saw many hate-filled comments by people on all sides of the electorate throughout this process, but what I couldn't understand is how these comments turn so easily into strong hate, frustration and people acting out. I continued to remember this verse in Romans, and how God allows the authorities to be put in place, not just in the United States, but around the world. The enemy is the one that drives the wedge between people and creates a great divide which is where all that hate comes from. It is interesting that the majority of people in the U.S. went about their next day knowing the cycle of change of leadership in place is no different than the past 200+ years. If we focus on the fact that it was established by God and know that faith in our Lord and Savior will guide us through our life, no matter who you think would have been the better person in office, you know that God has this. Keep your focus on the things above and less on the impact of everything else.
