Training
7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe. 1 Timothy 4:7-10
We all go through training in our lives for various things, and most of the time it relates to a job or a task that we want to accomplish. I got to observe some individuals at the end of their long training graduate from the police academy this week, including my son. The interesting thing about this culmination of training, everyone was so happy and joyous that it was over and they were ready for the next part of their life, which I am sure will include more training. How happy and joyous are we when we go through training for the next life? Do we think of these challenges and trials as part of our training for what God has in store for us? We need to remember that this life is just a training ground for what is yet to come. God wants us to train ourselves to live godly lives, and know that this preparation will reward us some day. Keep in your thoughts that all our training is full of value, we just need to acknowledge it.
Have a great weekend.
Matt
