Ready
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.
3 At one time
we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of
passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and
hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. Titus 3:1-5a
What do you find yourself getting ready for during your week? Do you
find yourself occupied with trying to ready yourself for the next thing
around the corner even though you have no idea what it is? Do find
time preparing for a major change in your life that never quite happens
when you think it is or the manner which it is going to occur. I wonder
how many of us leave our homes during the week saying to ourselves I am
not going to slander anyone, or that I am going to be peaceable and
considerate to everyone we come in contact with today. How many of us
actual say I am going to be gentle towards everyone. The enemy places
so many things in front of us that can distract us from being obedient,
and focusing on the true reason God wants us to be kind to others.
Being obedient to God and good to others readies us for the next thing
that God will place in front of us, or the next major change in our
lives. Instead of being ready for the next thing around the corner,
ready yourself to be gentle towards others and show your obedience to
our Lord. When we are obedient, we will always be ready.
Have a great weekend.
